There is one pick tonight.
Take Oakland Raiders +6 spread against LA Rams for 3% of the bankroll.
There has been a lot of moving pieces for the Oakland Raiders this offseason. They went out and got a Hall of Fame coach in Jon Gruden and Gruden wasted no time in re-working his team. The team let Michael Crabtree go on offense and most notably, traded All-Pro LB Khalil Mack to the Chicago Bears, which sent shockwaves through the league. There are a lot of question marks surrounding the Raiders at this moment, which we believe has severely affected this line. That being said, this team does still have an undeniable amount of talent at the skill positions. Marshawn Lynch is a capable back in the backfield. Dereck Carr has shown his ability to play at a high level and has a true go-to receiver in Amari Cooper. The Raiders also bolstered their receiving corps by adding Jordy Nelson in the offseason from Green Bay. The Raiders may be in rebuilding mode but on this particular occasion, on national TV, and Jon Gruden's return, they'll want to put up a fight.
As for the Rams, they are one of the sexy picks to potentially make it to the Superbowl this season and in Jared Goff's third year at the helm, expectations are high. Sean McVay has done a spectacular job with this team. They have an extremely potent offense, led by bruising RB Todd Gurley, which wreaked havoc on opposing defenses a season ago. Everyone has already placed lofting expectations on this team, which we believe has also affected this line. They are loaded with talent but it'll take them a bit of time to gel. Early in the season everyone is expecting them to play like a Super Bowl team but it likely will take them a bit of time to get there.
This is a classic example of a team that is being over-valued going up against one that is under-valued. Let's not forget that the Rams have held their starters out of the preseason this year to keep them healthy and have only been taking reps in practice. Things are much different in live-game action and the lack of in-game reps could mean that the Rams start out a bit sluggish in this contest. With this being the first game of the season, under the bright lights on a nationally televised Monday Night contest, we expect the Raiders' fans to be out in full-force. Often players step up when a star player leaves to show there is still talent on this team and it wouldn't surprise us if Oakland did that. This is Gruden's opportunity to make a statement and there would be none bigger at the moment than knocking off the Rams tonight! Even if Oakland does fall short of the outright win, they should be competitive enough to stay within this rather large number.
