There is one pick tonight.
Take LA Angels (-114) on the ML against Texas Rangers risking 3.42% to win 3%.
(Barria and Colon must start for wager to have action)
The LA Angels and Texas Rangers conclude their three-game series tonight and we believe the edge goes to the Halos in this one. The pitching matchup clearly favor the youngster Jaime Barria as he is set to face off against the veteran, Bartolo Colon.
Barria is fresh off arguably his best start of the season, where he tossed six scoreless innings of three-hit ball against the defending World Series Houston Astros in his last start to earn his fourth win in his past five decisions. Barria has looked sharp since the All-Star break, going 4-2 with a 3.32 ERA in eight starts. He has also posted a 3-1 record and a 2.73 ERA in six August starts and has fared far better on the road (2.77 ERA) compared to at Angels’ Stadium (4.12 ERA) this year. Barria has also had quite a bit of success against the Rangers this season, having gone 2-0 with a spectacular 1.13 ERA in three starts.
The 41-year old veteran Bartolo Colon will be making his first start since coming off the disabled list for a back issue. Prior to his time off, he has been struggling and allowed 7 runs over 5 innings in his most recent start against the Oakland A's. Colon has also struggled against the Halos this season, going 0-1 with a 10.50 ERA over 2 contests. He has allowed 3 earned runs or more in each of his last 9 starts and it appears that age is finally starting to catch up with the veteran. Both teams are fairly even offensively, but we believe the edge on the mound must go to the Angels and that should likely be the deciding factor tonight.
