There is one college football play tonight.
Utah State +1 against BYU risking 3% of the bankroll.
The BYU Cougars at times this season have looked great, beating Wisconsin on the road as 3-touchdown underdogs, but have also looked like a second-class team as in their most recent performance against the Washington Huskies. It's tough to get a read on this team, however, from what we have seen, they tend to struggle against balanced teams that have speed on the outside and that is exactly what this matchup with Utah State presents.
The Aggies are among one of the best offensive teams in the country, ranking 4th in the FBS in points per game and 29th in passing offense. BYU's strength has been their ability to defend the run, which is why they matched up so well with Wisconsin. Utah State is a completely different beast and have already showed that they can hang with some of the toughest teams in the country. They have won 3-straight since narrowly falling at Michigan State in the season opener.
While many may look at playing in Provo as an advantage for the Cougars, let’s not forget that Utah State also plays in altitude, and BYU has already lost at home this season, in a similarly lined game against an offensively inept Cal team. Both defenses should make moving the football difficult for their opponent, however, we feel that Utah State balance on offense will be the difference maker. Tanner Mangum is not a great QB and that will show as his counterpart, Jordan Love outplays him in this contest. The Cougars are solid at stopping the run, but do not get a ton of pressure in the backfield and that will be the difference tonight.
In what should be a close game expect Utah State to make some big plays in the second half to take the lead and pull off the upset victory tonight.
