There is one pick tonight.
Take Boston Red Sox (+185) on the ML against Houston Astros risking 3% to win 5.55%.
(Pomeranz and McCullers must start for wager to have action.)
This is a play that is all about value. The Boston Red Sox currently have the best record in the Majors and come into this contest winners of three straight and 11 of their last 14. Meanwhile, the Astros have been up and down as of late, losing 4 of their last 5 games. This is also somewhat of a revenge game for the Sox as Houston managed to take the regular season series last year, 4-3 and was the team that knocked the Red Sox out of the playoffs in the ALDS.
Drew Pomeranz looks nothing like the pitcher who won 17 games a year ago and has publicly stated that he believes his issues can be resolved with a slight tweak of his mechanics. It's only a matter of time before he makes the proper adjustments as we don't believe a pitcher of his caliber will continue to struggle much longer. He has also had some success recently against the Astros going 1-0 with a 1.47 ERA in two starts a season ago.
Lance McCullers Jr. has had himself a very nice season thus far but was just recently blasted for 7 earned runs in his most recent appearance against Cleveland, which happens to be his worst start of the season. After a performance like that, we wouldn't be surprised if his confidence is a least a little bit shaken having to now face off against one of the most potent lineups in the league. He has also struggled against the Red Sox, going 0-1 with a 6.16 ERA in four appearances against Boston. The batting order is also hitting an impressive .305 against him.
It’s not often that you are able to get this kind of price on a team that has won 11 of their last 14, so strictly based on value, it’s worth the risk to back the Red Sox at this price in this matchup.
