There is one pick today.
Take Minnesota Twins (-113) on the ML against Seattle Mariners risking 3.39% to win 3%.
(Berrios and Leake must start for wager to have action.)
Jose Berrios will take the mound in this contest and he’s been an interesting pitcher all year long. He’s either been very good or not very good at all. Before his latest start, he had made nine starts and in every single of them, he had allowed four earned runs or more or one earned run or less. That meant he hadn’t allowed two or three earned runs in any start this year. That changed in his latest, as he gave up two earned runs over eight innings, getting the win over the Tigers to move his record to 5-4. He’s now won two straight starts to climb from under .500. His ERA is 3.82, however, it should be lower. Batters are hitting just .196 against him and his WHIP is 0.91.
Mike Leake will be taking the mound for Seattle this afternoon. While him and Berrios are both one game over .500, he hasn’t pitched nearly as well as Minnesota’s starter. Leake’s ERA is 5.46 and batters are hitting nearly .300 against him. His WHIP of 1.46 is more than a half batter an inning more than Berrios. Over his last two starts, he’s been mediocre, going 12 innings and giving up six earned runs. He’s struck out just five batters in those 12 innings, but he hasn’t allowed a walk during that time, which has been his saving grace.
Seattle has managed to win the first two games of this series and we expect Minnesota to salvage this game and at the very least avoid being swept. Berrios is the better pitcher and should have the edge on the mound. These are reasonable odds for the numerous advantages Minnesota should have.
