There is one pick tonight.
Take St. Louis Cardinals (-114) on the ML against San Diego Padres risking 3.42% to win 3%.
(Wacha and Ross must start for wager to have action.)
The San Diego Padres are firmly entrenched in last place in the National League West. The biggest issue for them has been their offense, which is a recurring theme for them over the years. They just can’t seem to get good offensive players and their pitching usually isn’t good enough to overcome bad offense. The Padres put up just one run in game one of this series and have now averaged just 2.20 runs per game over their last five games
Tyson Ross will toe the rubber for the Padres and he has gone 2-3 with a 3.67 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in seven starts on the year. Those are serviceable numbers for Ross, however, isn't enough to carry the team, which is the major reason he has a losing 14-18 record at home in Petco Park in 41 career starts. Ross has given up a combined nine runs and nine walks in his last 16 innings and has been much worse at home this season.
The Cardinals meanwhile have won six straight games with Michael Wacha on the hill, and he's allowed three or less runs in each of those starts. It’s also worth mentioning that he is a perfect 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA when pitching in Petco. Also, the San Diego Padres continue to find ways to lose regardless, so even if the pitching matchup is in their favor, they are still a team that cannot be trusted. The Cardinals have managed to win 6 of the last 7 games played in this ballpark and this is a cheap price to lay for them to get win number seven.
