There is one pick tonight.

Take Boston Red Sox (+200) on the ML against New York Yankees risking 3% to win 6%.
(Pomeranz and Severino must start for wager to have action.)

The most storied rivalry in baseball resumes tonight as the Boston Red Sox travel to Yankee Stadium to take on the New York Yankees in the first of a three-game series. While this rivalry always has huge implications, the fact that these teams are so close in the divisional standings only adds fuel to the fire. Currently the Red Sox hold a 1-game lead over the Yankees, which makes this game all the more important.

The Yankees undoubtedly have been one of the hottest teams in baseball over the last month. They come into this matchup on a six-game winning streak and winners in 15 of their last 16 contests. They had a huge late-game rally in their most recent contest, scoring 7-runs in the 8th and 9th inning to cap off a sweep of the Cleveland Indians. That come from behind victory only adds to the momentum the Yankees have, however, a series with Boston means that both teams wipe the slate clean and start fresh. It doesn't matter what either of these teams have done recently, all that matters is this matchup.

Given the magnitude of this rivalry, it's hard to imagine either team being listed as a heavy favorite, yet the oddsmakers have listed the Yankees as more than a 2 to 1 favorite over their rivals. That has made the Yankees un-bettable in this situation and has opened all the value on the Red Sox. Even in this pitching matchup, Severino is coming off the best start of his career, throwing 9-innings of shutout ball. That being said, he has struggled against the Red Sox in his career, going just 2-5 with a 4.82 ERA in 8 starts against Boston. His most recent start against the Sox came back on April 10th where he was shelled for 5 runs on 8 hits in just five innings of work. The Yankees lost that game 14-1.

Both teams have explosive bats in their lineups and can put runs on the board in a hurry. With a game of this magnitude, we believe both teams could win this game with their offense and is likely going to come down to which team gets the timely hits needed late in the game to pull out the victory. Even if the Red Sox do happen to lose this game, getting 2 to 1 odds is simply too good to pass up.
