There is one pick tonight.
Take Oakland Athletics (+156) on the ML against Seattle Mariners risking 3% to win 4.68%.
(Anderson and Paxton must start for wager to have action.)
The Oakland A's have been struggling as of late, losing 4 of their last 5 games after a 4 -game win streak. Even though they have been failing to get into the win column, the silver-lining is that, as a team, the A's are hitting the ball well. They are batting a collective .263 with a slugging percentage of .441, both of which are good for 4th in the majors. They are also hitting lefties extremely well, batting .272 in their last ten matchups.
They will have a good chance to end their recent skid tonight as they take on a struggling James Paxton. Paxton is just 1-1 on the season with a 5.12 ERA and WHIP of 1.421. He has struggled even more at home this season, as his ERA balloons up to 5.90 on the year. He has struggled with his control, with an 11 to 7 K:BB ration in two home games this season. Against a team that has the firepower that the Athletics have shown, Paxton could be in for a short night tonight.
Brett Anderson will get the start tonight and will be making his first start of the season. Things haven't gone well for Anderson over the last couple of years as he has been riddled with injuries while bouncing from team to team. He has pitched well at the Minor league level this season and will get his opportunity to showcase his skills tonight on the big stage. Anderson is no stranger to facing Seattle and has had plenty of success against them in his career, going 8-4 with an ERA of 1.83 and WHIP of 1.142 over 15 career starts. We believe he'll have a solid showing tonight which should keep his team in the game.
Seattle has been playing well recently and is undoubtedly the 'hotter' of the two teams. That being said, we believe this pitching matchup is about even, and with Oakland having what we believe to be the motivational edge tonight. The reward for them winning the game at these odds, far outweighs the risk. In what should be a close game, we'll look for Oakland to put up just enough runs late to come away with the underdog victory.
