There is one pick tonight which was released on Monday.

Take Penn State -2 spread (buy the half point) against Mississippi State for 3% of the bankroll.

The Penn State Nittany Lions are a team that (according to most) should have made the NCAA Tournament this season. They have numerous high-profile wins on their resume this season, and their tear through the NIT Tournament thus far shows that they are still playing with a chip on their shoulders. This Penn State team has shown that they are a team on a mission and looking to prove the committee wrong and also build momentum heading into next season.

It's not too often that a team that is forced to play their way through the NIT Tournament on the road makes it to the finals, however, Penn State has had to do just that. To get to this point that had to down quality competition in the likes of Notre Dame and Marquette in consecutive road contests. It was an impressive showing; however, the Nittany Lions will now receive somewhat of a break with this game now being played on a neutral court.

Mississippi State is a good team and we will give respect where it is due, however, we believe this is simply a bad matchup for the Bulldogs. Both teams play similar styles of basketball in that their focus resides around playing solid, fundamental defense. The difference, however, is that the Nittany Lions will have the advantage in having the best player on the court in Tony Carr. Carr has been the unquestioned leader of this team and he has really taken the reigns this tournament. There is no question that Carr will be allowed to operate without restriction in this contest and we believe he will simply be too much for the Bulldogs defense to contain. Even if Mississippi State focuses their attention on Carr, that is going to leave other capable shooters open on around the perimeter and as they have shown this tournament, if they are able to knock down their shots, they are an incredibly tough team to beat.

This has all the makings of being a classic defensive battle and should be a highly entertaining contest. From what we have seen thus far however, Penn State seems to be the team who is playing much more in rhythm. They have shown that they can win with their defense, and also win in a shootout. They appear to be the more capable and trustworthy team at this point in the season and we expect that they will continue their run and punch their tickets to the championship game.
