There is one pick tonight.
Take Villanova -5 spread against West Virginia for 3% of the bankroll.
While West Virginia has looked good throughout the tournament thus far, we believe this is an incredibly tough matchup for the Mountaineers. The Villanova Wildcats are arguably the best team (on both sides of the ball) left in the tournament and present stark strengths to neutralize the West Virginia style of gameplay.
The Mountaineers have always been a team that resides on their defensive pressure first. Their ability to pressure teams and create turnovers, leads to fast-break and transition offense. That is the style that West Virginia likes to employ. Against Villanova however, they could find themselves struggling to create that pressure. Jay Wright's team is one of the most balanced and disciplined on offense and Jalen Brunson is one of the most sure-handed ball handler in the country. Villanova also has numerous players who can shoot the basketball as they lead the nation in FG efficiency, shooting over 52% from the field.
While West Virginia is a pressure-style team, they have been susceptible to strong perimeter shooting teams, especially from beyond the 3-point line. Marshall was able to expose some of their weakness in that area, going 12 of 26 from deep, and given how good The Wildcats are shooting the 3-ball, we expect them to be able to not only duplicate those kind of results, but possibly exceed them.
This game will likely be closely played in the early going of the contest, however, once both teams develop their type of rhythm, we expect Villanova to start to pull away on the scoreboard. Their offense will simply be too much for the Mountaineers to keep pace with in the second half and The Wildcats will punch their ticket to the Elite 8.
