There is one pick tonight.

Take Boston Red Sox (+112) on the ML against New York Yankees risking 3% to win 3.36%
(Rodriguez and Sabathia must start for wager to have action.)

The most storied rivalry in baseball continues tonight as the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees open a series at Yankees Stadium tonight. These two teams have battled back and forth all season long for the top spot in the AL East and have split the first six meetings this season. The Red Sox currently hold a one-game lead over their rivals, however, since the beginning of May, no more than 2.5 games have separated these two teams. The will of this series will likely hold the top spot in the division.

We believe the Red Sox will have the advantage in game one tonight. They are coming off a successful 5-1 homestand, culminating by sweeping the LA Angels in their three-game set in a series where the Red Sox clobbered 9 total homeruns. The Yankees on the other hand return home after a somewhat disappointing 2-4 road trip which concluded with a 3-0 setback at the hands of the Philadelphia Phillies.

While no one would likely claim Eduardo Rodriguez as being the Red Sox's "Ace" this season, he has certainly been playing like one. The lefty is 9-2 record with a 3.86 ERA in 15 starts this season. As a team, Boston has always shown up when he has taken the hill, going 13-2, including a perfect 6-0 on the road. He has already seen this Yankees lineup this season and was excellent in their matchup back on May 10 when he allowed only one hit and no earned runs in a 5-4 Red Sox win. The lefty owns a career 2.70 ERA in 10 starts against the Bronx Bombers so if the Sox do happen to lose this game, it likely won’t be because of his performance on the mound.

Veteran CC Sabathia will take the mound tonight and has dropped back-to-back starts for only the second time since the beginning of the 2017 season. The 37-year-old worked a season low-tying four frames opposite Rodriguez on May 10 as he gave up four runs and nine hits. He has struggled against the Red Sox in his career as, evidenced by his 4.20 ERA in 40 career outings and it's certainly worth mentioning that Mookie Betts is 10-for-24 with four walks against Sabathia.

The Red Sox / Yankees rivalry is always exciting and typically closely contested which almost always opens up value on the underdogs. We expect another close contest tonight, however, given the way the Red Sox have been playing as of late, we believe they will do enough to come away with the victory in game one and reward their backers with an underdog return.
