There is one pick today.
Take Chicago White Sox (-128) on the ML against Detroit Tigers risking 3.84% to win 3%.
(Lopez and Fiers must start for wager to have action.)
The Chicago White Sox have been playing some of their best baseball of the season in the month of June and have a chance for a bit of retribution tonight as they open up a series with the Detroit Tigers. Detroit has owned Chicago this season, going 5-1 in the head-to-head series, but we believe this is the opportunity for the Sox to get back in the series.
The Detroit Tigers have been the worst team in the league on the road this season, going just 10-20. They managed to avoid an immediate meltdown since losing Miguel Cabrera for the season, however, this will arguably be their toughest test of the season as they now try to win (in a situation where they have struggled) and without their best player.
The White Sox should also have an edge on the mound tonight as Mike Fiers squares off against Reynaldo Lopez. Fiers has been pitching well for the Tigers recently, however, he has shown his struggles on the road. Away from home this season, he is just 2-2 with a 4.79 ERA. The Tigers are 2-3 when he has taken the mound on the highway.
Reynaldo Lopez has been far an away the White Sox most consistent starter this season. With the exception of a clunker at Cleveland on May 30, Lopez has been on a tear with four quality starts over his last five trips to the mound. He picked up the win at Boston last time out, allowing two runs (one earned) across 6 1/3 innings. Lopez also limited the Tigers to two runs over seven innings in a no-decision on May 25 and pitched seven innings of one-run ball in a 1-0 loss to Detroit on April 8. He has shown his ability to navigate this lineup and expect him to do so once again tonight.
It's a rare site to see a team like the White Sox listed as the favorites in a matchup, but we feel it is warranted in this situation. While it is certainly hard to trust an inconsistent team, we believe they hold the advantages in this matchup and that should be enough for them to pick up the victory.
