There is one pick today.
Take Texas Rangers (+160) on the ML against LA Dodgers risking 3% to win 4.80%.
(Colon and Ferguson must start for wager to have action.)
Los Angeles has been crippled with pitching injuries this season. They have seven starting pitchers that are currently dealing with injuries and that has left this team scrambling to put together a rotation for this series. Over their last 10 games, the team ERA is at a paltry 4.35, and it is only a matter of time before that catches up with them. They have been fortunate that their offense has been able to continuously produce for the team, as they need it. They are averaging 7.5 runs per nine innings on average during that same stretch but continuing that kind of pace is certainly not sustainable.
Caleb Ferguson is slated to take the mound tonight and the rookie wasn't sharp in his first outing this season, allowing 4 earned runs on two hits while issuing 3 walks in just 1/7 innings of work against Pittsburgh. This will be his second opportunity in the big league and we expect that nerves will play a factor once again in his performance tonight. To be that young and roughed up in your big-league opportunity, he will likely be tentative with his pitch selection in this contest, overly focused on not making a mistake and that will cost him against this dangerous lineup.
Bartolo Colon, the ageless veteran will take the mound for the Rangers. While Colon is not the pitcher that he was back in his prime, he is still a serviceable addition to the Rangers' rotation, given his vast experience. Colon has had some solid moments this season, posting a 3-3 record with a 4.16 ERA in his 13 appearances and 11 starts and is coming off a solid performance against Oakland. While we don't expect to see him turn back the clock against the Dodgers tonight, we do believe he will outduel his much younger and inexperienced counterpart.
With an unproven on the mound tonight for the Dodgers', they should not be listed this big of a favorite. If the Rangers are able to damage against Ferguson at the plate, the Dodgers offense will once again be tasked with shouldering a bulk of the load. This is a prime opportunity for the Rangers to take advantage of a weakened pitching rotation and pick up a nice underdog victory for their backers.
