There is one pick today.
Take Chicago Cubs (-118) on the ML against Milwaukee Brewers risking 3.54% to win 3%.
(Quintana and Guerra must start for wager to have action.)
The Chicago Cubs had a shot to take over first place in the National League Central but suffered 'bad loss' to the Pirates in the finale of their three-game series by a score of 7-1 on Sunday. Had the Cubs won that game, they would have taken over first place in the division as the Brewers were off a 4-3 loss in Philadelphia. The Cubs are still just a half a game out of first and they have won 11 of their last 14 games as they head into this huge series for the division lead.
The Milwaukee Brewers currently stands atop the division, but this is not a great spot for them. They do have the advantage of playing this game at home, however, this is their first game back after a long road trip and they are taking on a Chicago team that has won eight of their last ten games. The seasonal series has also been dominated by the Cubs this season as the Brewers have dropped 7 of 8 against Chicago thus far this season. This is a big-time series for both teams, but it's hard to ignore how well Chicago has been playing as of late.
Jose Quintana has been a tough out for any batting order this season and is coming off two strong outings in a row. Quintana recorded a season-high 10 strikeouts Wednesday against Philadelphia, allowing two runs and three hits over 5.2 innings in a no-decision. He has not only has been dominant against the Brewers in his career, going 4-1 with a 0.63 ERA in six meetings but has pitched extremely well on the road, with a 2.62 ERA away from home this season.
The Cubs had their winning streak snapped last night and it was an ugly loss. We don't believe that will sit too well with them tonight. They have been a strong team coming off a loss and given their past dominance over the Brewers, we believe they will pick up the win tonight and have quite a bit of value at these short odds.
