There is one pick tonight.

Take Detroit Tigers (+180) on the ML against Boston Red Sox risking 3% to win 5.40%.
(Hardy and Rodriguez must start for wager to have action.)

The Red Sox are listed as heavy favorites in Game 2 of their three-game series with the Detroit Tigers, however, we believe this matchup will be much closer than the oddsmakers are expecting. Boston came away with a decisive 6-0 victory in the series opener last night, so the Tigers bats will be looking for a bit of retribution tonight and will be facing a pitcher whom they have had plenty of success against in the past.

The current Tigers’ lineup is batting a healthy .353 collectively and have an on-base percentage of .492 in 42 plate appearances against Rodriguez. They own a weighted OBA of .487 and slugging percentage of .744 off of the Red Sox lefty heading into Wednesday’s matchup, which could spell trouble for Rodriguez. On the season, Detroit is ranked 8th in hitting, and in terms of power are 12th in runs scored and 13th in slugging percentage. They have the bats in their lineups to do damage against Rodriguez and hang with the high-powered Red Sox offense. Rodriguez is 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA versus Detroit.

Blaine Hardy will make the start tonight for the Tigers and the southpaw reliever has been making a strong case to stick in the starting rotation so far this year with back-to-back quality starts in wins over the White Sox and Blue Jays. Hardy has made eight appearances (four starts) in 2018, going 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP over a span of 26 innings. He has allowed just three earned runs on six hits with nine strikeouts in 13 combined innings over his past two outings and sports a 2-0 record to go along with a 2.50 ERA over his past three outings. Thus far this season, he has limited left-handed batters to a paltry .208 batting average in 24 at-bats, while also holding his own against right-handed hitters, who are batting just .239 against him this season.

The Tigers haven't taking getting shutout lightly as they have only been blanked on the scoreboard six times this season and are an impressive 4-2 in their following matchups. Rodriguez is also working on 6 days rest in this contest, which is a day outside of his normal rotation. Pitchers are creatures of habit and while the extra added days rest may be looked at as beneficial to the southpaw, it could also cause him to be a bit out-of-sorts in the early going. The Detroit offense has been playing well as of late and should be able to generate some offense tonight off a pitcher who they have seen quite a bit. Hardy will be a wildcard in this matchup and those two things could be just the advantages that Detroit needs to pull off the upset and handsomely reward their backers.
