There are two picks tonight.

#1: Take Atlanta Braves (+169) on the ML against Washington Nationals risking 3% to win 5.07%
(Sanchez and Strasburg must start for wager to have action)

The Washington Nationals are going to have some work to do in the second half of the season if they want to contend for a postseason spot as they are currently sitting at .500 and 5-games behind both Philadelphia and their opponents tonight, the Atlanta Braves.

Atlanta currently own a 6-4 season series edge heading into this contest and could have an advantage tonight on the mound as Anibal Sanchez takes on Stephen Strasburg. Sanchez has been outstanding for Atlanta this season, pitching to a 2.45 ERA while holding opposing hitters to a .190 batting average in his eight starts since June 1. He has pitched at least six innings in all three of his July starts, allowing one run on five hits in six innings of a no-decision Friday against Arizona, six days after holding Milwaukee to one run on two hits in 6 2/3 innings. Sanchez gave up two unearned runs on two hits in seven innings against the Nationals on June 3, walking one and striking out five in a no-decision.

Stephen Strasburg will take the mound first time since June 8 after missing a month with right shoulder inflammation. Strasburg had been shaky at best this season, including giving up four runs on seven hits in a 4-0 loss to Atlanta on June 1, then left his next start a week later after throwing just two innings against San Francisco. It's been a while since Strasburg has taken the mound, so that could give the Atlanta bats the slight advantage needed as he becomes accustomed to pitching in a game atmosphere again.

Atlanta has been playing much better baseball up to this point, but with this being the first game from the All-Star break, anything can happen. It's hard to trust Strasburg at these odds in his first game back and given the Nats are just 15-26 since May 1st, the value is on Atlanta in this contest.

#2: Take New York Mets (+159) on the ML against New York Yankees risking 3% to win 4.77%
(Syndergaard and German must start for wager to have action)

These two teams may be on opposite sides of the spectrum in terms of success this season, however, this is a matchup that we believe will favor the Mets as Noah Syndergaard takes on Domingo German.

The Mets have been one of the more inconsistent teams in the Majors this season, however, if there has been one constant on the team, it is Noah Syndergaard. Syndergaard allowed a run in five innings while being limited to 75 pitches in his return to the mound last Friday against Washington. It marked the 11th consecutive start in which he gave up three runs or fewer. With there being so much speculation and trade rumors on the status of Syndergaard’s position as a Met, this is his opportunity to up his trade value with a solid showing against the team with the second-best record in all the league.

Domingo German's days in the rotation are numbered as the Yankees seek upgrades on the mound, and he's coming off a rocky showing in his last start against the Cleveland Indians. German reached for six runs on five hits and four walks over four innings as his ERA as a starter ballooned up to 5.97. He has been arguably the more hittable pitcher in the Yankees rotation and that could be just what the Mets need to jumpstart some life into their bats.

Under the bright lights in NYC, there is no better place for Syndergaard to highlight what he can do on the mound. While the Yankees have a potent lineup, Syndergaard has shown his experience and poise on the mound and this is the ideal situation for him to shine. He should be able to limit the damage by the Yankees offense and the struggles of German should continue just enough to allow the Mets to pull off the win in this Subway Series rivalry.
