There is one pick today.
Take Tampa Bay Rays (-124) on the ML against Miami Marlins risking 3.72% to win 3%
(Eovaldi and Chen must start for wager to have action.)
Both teams are in similar spot within their respective divisions, however, at the moment they are trending in opposite directions. Tampa has been one of the hottest hitting teams in the major leagues over the past week. Over their past six contests, the Rays are batting .272/.332/.402 as a team with 34 runs during that span, which ranks seventh in all of baseball. They have a strong chance to keep their momentum tonight opposing a struggling Wei-Yin Chen.
Like most of the Miami pitching staff, Chen has been poor for most of the season. He is just 2-5 and has an inflated ERA of 6.14. He had a bit of a bounce-back performance his last time out, allowing just one run in six innings but even after that performance, his ERA for June remained at 6.20. Poor starting pitching has put a strain of the Miami bullpen that simply has not been up to the task. The current Rays roster is also batting a collective .265 against the southpaw. Chen is not a pitcher that typically goes deep into games. He's completed 6 or more innings in just 3 of his 12 starts this season. This could be yet another outing where Chen gets knocked around early and puts an extreme amount of pressure on his bullpen.
The Rays are simply playing better baseball at the moment and their recent surge has come against some of the best teams in the league. They are getting things done on both sides of the ball and there is little reason to expect that they falter here. Miami is a poor team and with this being an inter-state rivalry game, expect the Rays to continue their winning ways. This is a decent price to pay for the team playing the better baseball at the moment.
