There is one pick today.
Take Clemson +8 spread (buy the half point) against North Carolina for 3% of the bankroll.
The Clemson Tigers are off to the best start over the last 9 years as they head into Chapel Hill to take on the defending National Champions, the UNC Tar Heels. Despite being a much-improved team this season, we don't believe the Tigers have gotten their due respect thus far and that recent history has severely swayed the public perception of this matchup given Clemson's past struggles in this venue.
North Carolina owns one of the most impressive streaks in the world of college basketball as they are a perfect 58-0 against the Clemson Tigers in Chapel Hill! It is almost unfathomable that Clemson has yet to win on this court, yet we believe tonight's version of the Tigers will be the best that the Tar Heels have ever seen. There is no question that the Clemson players know all about the losing streak at Chapel Hill and will have likely used that as motivation ahead of this contest. It also shouldn't be lost that Clemson is currently a game ahead of North Carolina in the ACC standings, but are ranked 18th to the Tar Heels 14th which is another reason we don't believe that the Tigers are getting the full respect they deserve. The Tigers recently suffered a tough 78-77 defeat on the road against a mediocre NC State team, but let's not forget that their loss to NC State is not as bad as initially perceived as this same NC State team also knocked off the highly ranked Duke Blue Devils at home as well. Clemson recently bounced back nicely from their loss in an impressive win against a tough Miami squad in their last contest.
The Tigers improved to 2-0 against ranked opponents with their win against Miami, and they have played outstanding defense in the early portion of conference play, holding their opponents to just 40.2% shooting from the field. They will have the defensive advantage in this contest and if there is one area that they should look to exploit, it's UNC's battle with turnovers. The Tar Heels rank 15th in the ACC and 241st nationally with a -0.61-turnover margin, turning the ball over in 14% of their possessions. If they can get a handle on the basketball and limit their turnovers, it will surely lead to some Clemson fast breaks and allow them to stay within this generous number.
UNC's 58-0 record against Clemson is impressive, but records are made to be broken. While it's unknown whether Clemson will pull off the outright upset, we do believe that they have the talent and motivation to do so. With that being said, we do expect a hard fought and closely contested battle. Even if Clemson falls short of the win, we expect they will put forth an admirable effort and keep the final score much closer than the oddsmakers expect. The value is with the points in this one.
