There is one pick today.
Take North Carolina +1 spread against Duke for 3% of the bankroll.
The most heated rivalry in college basketball renews tonight as the Duke Blue Devils travel to Chapel Hill to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels in the first meeting in the Tobacco Road rivalry this season.
The Blue Devils have owned this series as of late, going 6-2 against their rivals in the last 8 meetings. While Duke is certainly a talented team offensively, we believe their struggles on the defensive side of the ball this season is going to be their downfall in this contest. The Blue Devils have struggled holding onto the ball with 15.3 turnovers over the last three games and the defense has been an issue all season while allowing 72.4 points per game (ninth in the ACC) which was a big reason for their most recent (shocking) defeat at the hands of the St. Johns Red Storm. While many believe their loss to St. John's will give the Blue Devils added motivation in this contest, we believe it will have very little bearing on how this game plays out. This is one of the most heated rivalries in all of sports and we don't believe either team will lack any motivation in this contest.
The defending national champion Tar Heels have had what many would consider to be a down season given their struggles in ACC play this season. Roy Williams' team just recently snapped a three-game losing streak and got back to a .500 record in conference play. Not only did UNC snap their losing streak, they did so in dramatic fashion, completely blowing out the Pittsburgh Panthers. While they may not be playing like a national championship team at the moment, this is still a very dangerous UNC team, that matches up incredibly well with the Blue Devils, especially given their confidence level after their most recent performance. We expect their level of play to carry over into this contest tonight.
Much like every meeting between these two teams, we expect a close, back and forth affair throughout. While this series has been dominated by the road team in recent meetings, we believe that trend stops here as the Tar Heels exact some revenge on the Blue Devils tonight and take the first meeting of this series in front of their home crowd.
