There is one pick tonight.

Take New York Mets (+122) on the ML against Chicago Cubs risking 3.30% to win 3%.
(Syndergaard and Lester must start for wager to have action.)

The New York Mets had been playing some pretty good baseball since the All-star break and even though they managed to win their series against the Washington Nationals, they suffered somewhat of an embarrassing loss last night as the Nationals took Game 3, 15-0. The Mets aren't a team who has been blanked on the scoreboard often this season, so we expect them to come into this contest motivated as they open a series with the Cubs.

Chicago, meanwhile, has been cruising right along since dropping three straight a little over a week ago. Tonight, they will send Jon Lester to the mound. Lester comes in with a 14-5 overall record and a 3.64 ERA in 26 starts this season, but he’s struggled since the All-Star break. In seven starts since the Midsummer Classic, the veteran lefty is just 2-3 with a 7.08 ERA and he’s allowed nine home runs during that span.

The Mets will counter and send Noah Syndergaard to the mound, who comes in with a 9-3 overall record to go along with a 3.38 ERA and 111 strikeouts in 106 ⅔ innings of work this season. The 25-year-old has yet to make an appearance versus the Cubs this season but has made three career starts against them since the start of 2015. Syndergaard is 1-1 in those outings with a very respectable 2.00 ERA. He has allowed only four earned runs and struck out 22 batters in 18 combined innings of work against the Cubs heading into tonight's matchup.

Syndergaard could pose problems for this Cubs lineup early on. He has been one of the most consistent pitchers for the Mets all season long and should give his team a great chance to stay in this game. Lester has been known for his mid-game implosions and despite having a couple of solid outings on the hill recently, we feel that he is due for another struggle of a performance. The value is on the Mets in this contest.
