There is one pick tonight.
Take St. Louis Cardinals (-105) on the ML against Colorado Rockies risking 3.15% to win 3%.
(Mikolas and Senzatela must start for wager to have action)
This is an important series between two teams who both are not only rising hot-streaks, but who are currently vying for first place in their respective divisions. With their recent success, the Cardinals and Rockies are also locked in a duel for the top two wild cards in the National League, which makes this series all the more important.
St. Louis comes into this matchup having won 13 of their last 15 after completing a three-game sweep at the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Rockies meanwhile have won 10 of 12 and are coming off a dramatic win of their own as Ian Desmond blasted a walk-off two-run blast in the ninth inning of last night's 4-3 victory over the San Diego Padres.
We believe the pitching matchup in this contest will favor the Cardinals as Miles Mikolas have been nothing short of spectacular since returning to the bigs. After spending the last 3-years in Japan, he has now won 5 consecutive decisions and has permitted 2 runs of less in 9 of his last 11 starts, including a no-decision against this same Rockies team back on 8/2.
Antonio Senzalta has been pitching well for Colorado as of late, but it wasn't long ago where he was blasted for 10 earned runs over 11 innings in losses to both Seattle and Arizona, who like St. Louis, are power-hitting teams. With both teams playing well, it’s easy to see why the oddsmakers have labeled this game as a virtual pick'em, however, given St. Louis' recent performances, especially on the road, we believe they will be the ones to keep their momentum going as they take this all-important Game 1.
