There is one pick tonight.
Take Colorado Rockies (-105) on the ML against Atlanta Braves risking 3.15% to win 3%.
(Gray and Teheran must start for wager to have action)
This is an ideal situation for the Colorado Rockies to get one over on the Atlanta Braves as they open a 4-game series tonight from Turner Field. The Rockies had their 4-game winning streak end last night as they were battered by the Astros, 12-1 in the season finale. There is no question that they are going to want to atone for that offensive beatdown and we expect they will take their frustrations out on Atlanta tonight.
Julio Teheran will get the start for the Braves tonight and simply put, we just don't trust him on the mound. While he has been pitching well recently, he is just 8-7 with a 4.33 ERA in 23 starts. The fact that he has been pitching well actually works somewhat in our favor tonight as Atlanta is a mere 1-5 in their last 6 with Teheran on the mound following a Quality Start.
Since being recalled from Triple-A, Jon Gray has been one of the best young talents in the majors. He has been pitching phenomenally for Colorado, going 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP in his last 3 starts while averaging 7 innings per start. The Rockies are also 7-0 the last 7 times he has taken the mound. Gray has also had quite a bit of success against the Braves as he is a perfect 3-0 with a 1.04 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 4 lifetime starts against them. Gray has also been sensational on the road as of late. In his last two road starts he has allowed just 3 earned runs on 8 hits in 15 1/3 innings of work.
The Braves have been one of the hottest teams in the league as of late, having won 6 of their 7 at home. Despite all their recent success, we find it interesting that the oddsmakers had listed the Braves as only a slight favorite at home against a team who was just beat-down 12-1. This is a strong indication of how they believe the game will play out, and we agree. The Rockies bats get to Teheran and they find a way to come away with the victory in Game 1.
