There are two picks tonight.

#1: Take Texas Rangers (+100) on the ML against Seattle Mariners risking 3% to win 3%.
(Perez and Leblanc must start for wager to have action)

The Texas Rangers have really been playing well of late as they will enter their game on Sunday having won seven of their last eight games. The offense has really been on a role of late having averaged 7.55 rpg in their last 11 games. A lot of their offensive success has been done here at home as they have averaged 7.13 rpg in their last 15 games played at Globe Life Park.

Seattle on the other hand has been struggling. Thy managed to stop the bleeding (at least temporarily) last night, coming away with the victory against Toronto in their series finally which halted a 5-game losing streak. Their offense has really struggled as of late and while it appears that they have a solid matchup against Martin Perez tonight, we are not sure that will be the case.

Perez has struggled since coming off the DL, but over his last two starts, he has started to figure things out. He given up just 2 earned run over his last 11 innings of work and was able to keep the potent offenses of both the Arizona DBacks and Oakland A's in check. He's had a fair amount of success against Seattle in his career, going 7-4 with a respectable 3.45 ERA in 16 starts. We wouldn't be surprised if his success continues tonight.

Meanwhile, Wade Leblanc started the season off well since entering the starting rotation but has struggled as of late. He has dropped two of his last three decisions since winning each of his first five, and the worst effort of the bunch came when he surrendered a season-high seven runs over 4 1/3 frames in a loss to Houston last week. The Rangers are seeing the ball well at the moment and have the explosiveness in their bats to make things difficult for Leblanc if he is not fully mentally recovered from his most recent outing.

This should be a high-scoring back and forth game between two solid teams, but with this game being played in Arlington, we must give the slight edge to the Rangers and their offense. It may come down to the final inning, but the Rangers find a way to pick up the victory.

#2: Take Detroit Tigers (+135) on the ML against LA angels risking 3% to win 4.05%.
(Boyd and Tropeano must start for wager to have action)

It's been a rough season for the LA Angels this year and at the moment, it doesn't seem like things are getting much better. They have been without their best player in Mike Trout and now rumors have been circling about the status of their manager Mike Scioscia. The distractions are starting to pile up for the team as they continue to slide their way out of postseason contention.

Despite the mired or distractions in LA, we believe the Tigers should also enjoy the pitching advantage in this contest as Matt Boyd is slated to square off against Nick Tropeano. Boyd is coming off his best start of the season as he scattered four hits and struck out seven in eight scoreless innings of a win over Cincinnati on Tuesday. Boyd has now surrendered fewer than three runs in each of his last three turns and notched the victory in the last two after a stretch of seven straight starts without a triumph. Boyd yielded two hits in five scoreless frames to record a win over the Angels at home on May 28.

As Boyd has been playing well, the same can't be said for Tropeano who has gone 1-3 with a 6.92 ERA in his last five starts.  He has had an issue with his control all season long and has shown a strong propensity of giving up the long-ball. He served up five solo home runs against the Chicago White Sox on July 26 and was charged with four runs on seven hits (one homer) at Tampa Bay last week. He has given up 10 earned runs in his last 19 innings or work and may be just what Detroit needs to get their offense off to a fast start.

This is a tough situational spot for the Angels and Boyd has been pitching at an extremely high level as of late. Throw in the fact that the Angels have gone just 10-21 this season against southpaws and that makes them ripe for the picking in this contest. Detroit picks up a nice underdog win in Game 1 tonight.
