There is one pick tonight.
Take New York Yankees (+105) on the ML against Boston Red Sox risking 3% to win 3.15%
(Tanaka and Price must start for wager to have action)
The Boston Red Sox have dominated this series thus far, having outscored their rivals 19-8 while winning the first three games of this series. With their victories, Boston has managed to create quite a bit of separation atop the AL East division and despite how well they have played this series, we believe tonight's matchup favors the Yankees.
Not only with the Bronx Bombers be motivated to prevent being swept by their heated rivals, but they should enjoy a favorable pitching matchup tonight as the Sox send David Price to the mound. Price has been pitching well as of late but has historically struggled against New York. He is just 2-6 with an 8.43 ERA in nine starts against the Yankees since he joined the Red Sox in 2016. In Price’s last start against New York, he gave up nine hits, eight runs and five homers in a loss on July 1.
Taking the mound tonight for the Yankees will be Masahiro Tanaka who has thrown 17 1/3 consecutive scoreless innings over his past three outings. His longest career scoreless streak was a 17 2/3-inning stretch in 2016. Last time out, the righty allowed just three hits over six frames against the Orioles. IF Tanaka can continue throwing the ball well and keep the Red Sox bats in check, it should be enough to give his offense a chance to do some damage against Price.
This has been a forgettable series for the Yankees, and they are in desperation mode right now. They have been able to get to Price in recent meetings and we believe that will be the difference tonight. Boston can afford to drop this game and if there was a matchup where the Yankees could get the better of Boston, it would be this one. The value is with the Yankees tonight.
