There is one pick tonight.
Take Toronto Blue Jays (+100) on the ML against Minnesota Twins risking 3% to win 3%.
(Sanchez and Lynn must start for wager to have action.)
The Minnesota Twins have been struggling this season and come into this series, ice cold, losing 10 of their last 12 games. Tonight’s starting pitcher, Lance Lynn, has also been struggling as of late, allowing 11 runs on 14 hits and eight walks over 9 2/3 innings in his last two starts. He has also struggled on the season, apart from his start against the Houston Astros on April 9th, the 30-year old has allowed 5 or more runs in each of his starts this season.
The Blue Jays have hit somewhat of a cold spell themselves after starting the season on fire, however, this is one of the most potent offenses in the entire league and has shown the ability to feast on struggling pitchers and put runs on the board in a hurry. Both Russell Martin and Kendrys Morales have had a ton of success against Lynn in their careers, going a combined 10-for-21 with 3 homers. After their 7-2 victory in their series finale yesterday against Texas, we expect that momentum to carry over into tonight's series opener.
Aaron Sanchez will get the call for the Jays and while his overall record doesn't show it, Sanchez has been extremely consistent this season, with a 2.57 ERA on the road. We believe Sanchez will have the edge on the mound tonight and the Jays should also have the edge once the bullpens come into the game as well. They are getting exceptional production from their pen, with a collective ERA of just 2.26 over 85 innings. Meanwhile, the Twins bullpen has been a liability for them this season, sporting a combined 6.25 ERA and WHIP of 1.701 over 89 innings. To put things into more perspective, they have more blown saves on the season (4) than they do saves (3). If this game is close and comes down to the play of the relivers, there is no question Toronto should have the edge.
Minnesota simply cannot be trusted to win games at the moment, let alone be listed as the favorites. These are solid odds to back the Blue Jays, who should have the advantage in nearly every aspect of this matchup.
