There is one MLB pick today.

Take Arizona Diamondbacks (-112) on the ML against San Francisco Giants risking 3.36% to win 3%.
(Corbin and Beede must start for wager to have action.)

Johnny Cueto was originally slated to take the mound in this contest, however, the Giants have decided to push his start back a day and instead have elected to call up rookie Tyler Beede to make his first major league start. While we can understand the organizations logic in bringing up a youngster given that it is early in the season, however, we're not sure the Diamondbacks are the club that this strategy is best used against.

Beede was drafted in the first round in 2014 and has spent a bulk of his time in the Giants' farm system and his results have been mixed as of late. He turned in a strong 2016 season at Double-A, working to a 2.81 ERA. But he failed to carry that forward last year, when he allowed 4.79 earned per nine in his 109 Triple-A innings. He entered camp this spring with at least some hope of forcing his way into the Opening Day roster mix, however, he labored through his four outings. Beede struggled at the lower levels and he is about to take a hug step up in competition. The DBacks are no slouches at the plate and if nerves get the better of him, it could make for a short outing for the rookie.

The Giants have also flat-lined on offense to start the season. They have scored just a single run or less in 6 of their 9 games this season. If that turns out to be the case again tonight, they are going to essentially need a stellar outing from Beede on the mound, and we simply don't see that happening. He may have some success in his first time through the order given the batters unfamiliarity with him, however, we expect the bats to eventually catch up with him.

Patrick Corbin will take the mound for Arizona and while he hasn't necessarily had success against the Giants in his career, he is off to a stellar start to the season. Corbin is 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA through two starts this season. What happens to be most impressive about that is the fact that his two starts came against two of the more offensively proficient teams in the league in the Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers. If Corbin was able to navigate those lineups, he shouldn't have much of an issue tonight with the anemic San Francisco order. Arizona is 8-2 to start the season and should have the edge on the mound tonight versus a rookie. These are favorable odds to lay tonight with the team that should have the most advantages.
