There is one pick today.
Take Oakland Athletics (-118) on the ML against Seattle Mariners risking 3.54% to win 3%.
(Graveman and Ramirez must start for wager to have action.)
The Oakland A's haven't had a good season this year and will not be going to the postseason, however, they have been intent on finishing the year strong. Coming into this series, they had won 7 straight and 9 of their last 11, however, they now find themselves on a two-game losing streak in this series and looking to avoid being swept. It has been quite a while since the A's have lost 3 straight and we don't believe it happens this afternoon.
The A's will have a favorable matchup on the mound today as they face a struggling Erasmo Ramirez. Ramirez has been downright awful on the road this season, going just 1-5 with a 7.50 ERA over 42 innings of work. Oakland has had their way with him in his career and as a team they are hitting a collective .329 against him which has left him 0-6 with a 5.33 ERA over 9 career starts. We expect the A's offense to be able to generate some runs once again against him this afternoon.
The A's will send Kendall Graveman to the mound in this contest and he has been pitching extremely well recently, sporting an impressive 2-0 record and 1.20 ERA over his last 3 starts. He has allowed just 2 runs in his last 15 innings on the mound! At home this season, he has been nearly unbeatable, going 5-0 with a 2.79 ERA over 61 innings of work.
Not only is this matchup being played once again in the Coliseum, a place where Oakland has played much better this season, but this game will also be played during the day, which is a time where the A's have had quite a bit of success. Oakland has a winning record in day games this season, where their opponents, the Seattle Mariners do not. Seattle is 7 games under .500 when it comes to playing during the day and given the way that Graveman has been pitching as of late, we don't see them having much success in this contest.
Oakland is looking to finish the season strong and they managed to sweep the last 3 series that they have played. The fact that they have lost the first two of this series cannot sit well with a team who is looking to build some momentum as the season comes to a close. The A's will be motivated to avoid the sweep and they should find a way to come away with a close victory in this series finale.
