There is one pick today.
Take Arizona Diamondbacks (-142) on the ML against San Diego Padres risking 4.26% to win 3%.
(Ray and Lamet must start for wager to have action.)
The Arizona Diamondbacks are in good shape as far as making the playoffs go this season. They currently sit atop the National League wildcard standings and have a 4.5 game lead over the Colorado Rockies, who are in the 2nd slot. They also have a 6.5 game lead over the Brewers, who are in the 3rd slot and with just 10 games for the D-backs it looks like a certainty that they will get in, however, they certainly don't want to go into the playoffs on a cold streak and that is the way it is shaping up for them now as they have dropped the first two games of this series to the lowly San Diego Padres.
Having lost the first two games of this series, we don't believe the Diamondbacks will allow themselves to be swept. They should have a solid advantage on the mound tonight as they send Robbie Ray to the hill. Ray has been excellent on the road this season and owns a 1.33 ERA in 13 starts on the highway. He also has a 1.31 ERA in his last three starts overall and a 1.31 ERA in three career starts in this park. Tonight, he will be facing a San Diego team that has hit just .214 against southpaws at home. Ray should be in line for another quality outing tonight.
The Padres have not been a good offensive team this season and come in ranked 30th in the league in scoring, averaging just 3.77 runs per game while also ranking 30th in hitting at .232 and 23rd in homers with 176. San Diego has played much better at home this season; however, their wins have still come few and far between. They were fortunate to take the first two games of this series, but we believe they have the D-Backs attention now and they will be hard pressed to win a third. If for nothing else, the Arizona players will have a sense of pride in this contest as their offense finally breaks out and they manage to avoid the sweep. These are solid odds to lay tonight with what is not only the much better, but also the much more motivated team.
