There is one MLB pick today!

Take Washington Nationals (-120) on the ML against Miami Marlins risking 3.60% to win 3%.
(Gonzalez and Peters must start for wager to have action).

The Miami Marlins season is essentially over. They are 6 games out of the Wild Card race and with just 25 games remaining on the schedule, it will be extremely difficult for this team to make up that kind of ground in this short amount of time. Making it even more difficult will be the fact that they are not really playing good baseball at the moment, having lost 8 of their last 9 games. Reality of their season being just about over has likely sunk in with this team and their play on the field is showing that. Against a Washington team that is one of the best in the NL, coming away with the win in this contest will be a tough hill to climb.

The Marlins have also really struggled against the Nationals in recent meeting and after last night's defeat, have lost 7 straight in this series. Not only have they been losing those games, but they have been getting absolutely crushed on the offensive end, getting outscored 43-10 in the series. The pitching for Miami has really been on the decline of late as they have now allowed 5.89 runs per game over their last eight games, while the offense has sputtered as they have averaged just 2.36 runs per game over that same stretch., In their last eight games, they scored 10 runs in their lone win over that stretch, but a total of 11 runs in their seven losses. We don't expect their offense to be much better tonight facing Washington's most reliable starter in Gio Gonzalez.

Gio Gonzalez has been very strong for Nationals this year and comes into this contest with a 13-6 record and very impressive 2.58 ERA. He has also had his way with Miami in his career, posting a lifetime 1.94 ERA against the Fish. Meanwhile, getting the nod for the Marlins will be Dillon Peters who will be making just his 2nd career starts in this game. His first start was a good one as he allowed no ERs on just three hits in 7.0 innings of work, but that outing came against the offensively inept Philadelphia Phillies. Things will likely be much different this time out for the youngster as he now must contend with one of the best offenses in the National League.

The Nationals should have the advantage in nearly every aspect of this contest. Gonzalez has been a victim of a lack of run support as evidenced by his 6 losses on the season despite having a stellar ERA. If the Nationals can provide him the much-needed support, Gonzalez should be able to navigate this offense as he has many times in the past and lead his team to victory. These are good odds to lay with the team that has the most advantages in this contest.
