There is one MLB pick today!
Take New York Yankees (-113) on the ML against Baltimore Orioles risking 3.39% to win 3%.
(Sabathia and Hellickson must start for wager to have action).
The New York Yankees are on a roll at the moment and won for the 4th time in 5 games with yesterday's win in Game 1 of their series with the Baltimore Orioles. The win streak couldn't have come at a better time for the Bronx Bombers as they are looking to close the gap on the Boston Red Sox for the lead in the AL East and currently sit just 2.5 game out of first place. The Yankees need to continue to pile up the wins if they want to not only remain in the thick of the AL East Divisional race, but also potentially hold on to the Wild Card spot should they fall short.
They should have the advantage in Game 2 of this series as the Orioles will send a struggling Jeremey Hellickson to the mound tonight. Sending Hellickson to the mound tonight is a dicey proposition for the Orioles as he has not been a reliable starter this season. At just 8-8 on the year, he has an unflattering 5.15 ERA through 26 starts. He has also been roughed up recently, owning an 8.81 ERA and 1.408 WHIP over his last 3 contests. In those matchups, he has given up 7 earned runs in two of those three contests and could be in trouble tonight against a Yankees batting order who has seemingly found their groove as of late.
The Yankees will turn to the veteran, C.C. Sabathia tonight. Sabathia has pitched extremely well this season and comes into this contest 11-5 with a respectable 3.71 ERA. He has been solid on the road this season, going 7-3 with a 2.81 ERA over 12 starts. Over his last three, he has been especially impressive, going 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA and WHIP of 1.053. Sabathia has had tremendous success against Baltimore in his career having gone 21-10 with an astonishing 3.35 ERA and WHIP of 1.182 over 42 career starts. He has been the epitome of consistency against the O's and we wouldn't be surprised to see his success continue tonight.
After taking two of three from the division leading Red Sox and also winning the first game of this series yesterday, the Yankees are the team with all of the momentum at the moment. Hellickson has been battered in his last couple of appearances and the Yankees bats should be able to find success against him tonight. Even though they are on the road in Camden Yards, this is a small price to lay with the team who we believe is playing better baseball at the moment.
