Take NY Giants +7 spread against Washington Redskins for 3% of the bankroll.
The New York Giants are undoubtedly one of the biggest disappointments of this NFL season! Billed by many as a pre-season contender, they have underwhelmed to say the least and that is partly due to a wide array of injuries. They have been criticized all season and rightly so and yet having heard so much about it, they are sick and tired of it. When a team is mocked as much as they have been, players tend to step up and have a point to prove! That’s what they did last Sunday against the Chiefs when they secured a rare W in what has been a turbulent season and we believe they have more of that coming tonight. Given that they have yet to win consecutive games this season, this is their chance to temporarily silence critics and put together a couple of solid back-to-back performances.
We backed the Redskins in Big Easy when took on the red-hot New Orleans Saints over the weekend and easily cashed out. Washington was a live dog as expected despite being installed as a heavy underdog and led from nearly start to finish. Then an epic collapse in the fourth quarter saw them blow away a 16-point lead in the final minutes! They went on to cover the bloated point-spread but lost the game in overtime! For a team to be in complete control of the game and lead it from the very beginning only to lose it in OT after giving up such a big lead is devastating! It’s the type of defeat that lingers on in the players and coaching staff’s mind and is hard to shake off.
What makes matters even worse is that they haven’t yet had a proper chance to process it all and make their peace with it given the short week. The ‘Skins had to pick themselves back up after a brutal loss on Sunday and travel back home, and get a couple practices in before the G-Men come to town and the short turnaround doesn’t help them in this case. That loss took all the wind out of their sails and leaves them dejected with little momentum. It pretty much all but eliminated their post-season hopes as well and while they are still mathematically in it, it’ll be real difficult to get to the playoffs now. We believe they might have enough in the tank to beat an inferior team like New York but we don’t see them doing it with ease. This could be a closely-contested matchup and one that both teams will have a chance to win. If that is the case, the points are likely to come into play even if the visitors fall short. We don’t expect the Redskins to cover this inflated spread in what could be snowy conditions. This should be a one-possession game and that means all the value is with the underdogs.
