There is one MLB pick tonight.

Take Boston Red Sox (-150) on the ML against Chicago White Sox risking 4.5% to win 3%.
(Pomeranz and Pelfrey must start for wager to have action)

The Red Sox managed to even up their series with the Chicago White Sox last night as the Boston offense came to life in a high scoring 13-7 victory. The Red Sox bats were on fire last night and managed to light up White Sox pitcher Jose Quintana who gave up 7 earned run in just 3 innings of work. The short night by Quintana meant that Rick Renteria was forced to go to his bullpen early in that contest and could be working with a bunch of tired arms in his rotation tonight.

The Red Sox should have the advantage on the mound as lefty Drew Pomeranz will toe the rubber for the 8th time tonight. Pomeranz has had a troubled start to the season but has managed to turn things around recently and produced a quality start in his last outing against the Texas Rangers where he went 6 innings giving up only 2 earned runs while striking out a season high 11 batters!

The White Sox will counter with who we believe has been one of the most hittable pitchers in all of the league in Mike Pelfrey. Pelfrey has long been a pitcher that has been hit or miss over the last few seasons and is one that rarely goes deep into ballgames. On the season, Pelfrey has lasted just an average of 5 innings. With the bullpen taking on a longer than normal session last night, we wouldn't be surprised to see Renteria attempt to extend Pelfrey's workload tonight and if that is indeed the case, that should only favor the Red Sox bats as he tends to fade and get careless the deeper into games he goes. Even if Renteria limits Pelfrey's workload to his standard 5 innings of work, that will only put even more stress on what could be a tired bullpen tonight.

The Red Sox bullpen is actually in much better shape as they have thrown only 150 2/3 innings, the second-fewest in the AL and third-fewest in the Majors! They currently rank 5th in the Majors with a collective 3.17 ERA. This is a mismatch as in our opinion Boston has the better starter, the better relievers, and the better offense in this game. If the Red Sox can avoid hitting in double-plays, then they should have no problem carrying their offense into tonight's contest as they get to Pelfrey early and put this game away in the end. These are decent odds to get on what we believe should be a much bigger favorite given their numerous advantages tonight.
