There is one pick today and it's a late afternoon game.

Take Chicago White Sox as +101 underdogs on the ML against Arizona D-backs risking 3% to win 3.03%.
(Quintana and Delgado must start for wager to have action)

This is what we call a 'false favorite' situation. Jose Quintana is twice the pitcher that Randall Delgado is and should not be the underdog in this matchup. Not only that, the White Sox have a couple of other advantages as well which may well go unnoticed by the casual fan. The Diamondbacks have had a strong start to the season but they are far from unbeatable! The Pale Hose, meanwhile are flying under the radar due to their below-average record but are capable of squeezing out a 'W' this afternoon.

Jose Quintana was outstanding in his last start, allowing only a triple in 8 innings! He was basically unhittable and yet he came away with another no-decision, his 61st since 2012 which is the most in the Majors! The southpaw has been unlucky for a long time and is almost always a better pitcher than his win-loss record suggests. That's because many of those losses are directly related to a lack of offensive support, rather than the quality of his pitching. Consider the fact that he's just 2-5 on the year but once again has an ERA below 4.00! The veteran lefty continues to baffle hitters and should have his luck turned around soon.

Randall Delgado is a mediocre reliever who's been thrusted into the starting rotation after Taijuan Walker went down with an injury. Walker had been performing well since his trade from the Seattle Mariners but will miss this game due to a blister as he's currently on the DL list. In his place, Delgado will toe the rubber in what will be his first start since August 2015! He was a struggling starter back in 2014 and 2015 which is what prompted the Snakes' management to deploy him out of the bullpen. Even as a reliever, he's hardly set the world alight despite having to pitch only a frame or two against a few batters! Now he has to begin the game for Arizona and we doubt he'll record a 'quality start'.

Delgado is a hittable pitcher that does not have overpowering stuff, nor is he crafty enough to finesse his way into striking out batters. He's out of his depth in this one and we believe coach Torey Lovullo won't hesitate to pull him out after a few innings and make this a 'bullpen game'. Given that it's been 2 years since he's thrown more than 3 frames, a short outing is likely. That means Arizona relievers need to be on top of their game this afternoon as several of them are likely to be called upon and each may even have to go multiple innings! The D-backs do have a powerful offense but their bullpen is not an area of strength. We believe the Pale Hose will get to Randall Delgado and the relief core enough to give Quintana some much-deserved run support! They have lost the first two games of this series and will be motivated to avoid the sweep. Their run differential of +17 shows that this is a better ball club than their 20-24 mark suggests. Chicago could easily have a winning record with a run-differential like that but has so far failed to get those 'timely hits'. We believe that ends today as they leave the desert with the 'W'.
