There is one pick today.
Take Kansas City Royals (-103) on the ML against LA Angels risking 3.09% to win 3%.
(Vargas and Ramirez must start for wager to have action)
The Kansas City Royals had their 6-game win streak snapped last night as they fell to the Angels in Game 3 of their 4 games series, 9-0. It was somewhat of a surprising performance by the Royals who could only muster up 2 hits (Eric Hosmer & Lorenzo Cain) after having average nearly 7.5 runs per game over their previous 6 contests. It's likely that the Royals simply had an off-game, which is expected from time to time, but we expect they will bounce back this afternoon as they take on a struggling J.C. Ramirez.
Ramirez will be making his 13th start of the season and it has been somewhat of a mixed bag for the right-hander. He is 6-4 on the season with a 4.19 ERA and WHIP of 1.267. He has struggled in his last three starts and has seen his ERA balloon up to 7.31 with a 1.69 WHIP over his last 16 innings. He is making his 6th career appearance and second start against the Royals this afternoon and thus far against KC, it hasn't been pretty. Ramirez is 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA and a 1.269 WHIP over 8.2 innings of work. With him now getting to be in a starting role, we wouldn't be surprised to see his struggles with this lineup continue, if not be magnified.
Meanwhile, Kansas City will be sending who has been their most reliable starter to the mound in Jason Vargas. Vargas comes into this contest 9-3 on the season with a very respectable 2.10 ERA and WHIP of 1.094. He comes into this contest having won four straight starts and is currently tied atop the American League for wins this season. He has had success against this Angels lineup in the past and is no stranger to pitching in this venue as he is 10-3 with a 2.87 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP over 135 innings in 21 appearances at Angel Stadium in his career.
Kansas City had their momentum stalled last night as they failed to muster and kind of offense, and now that they got that 'dud' out of their system, we expect them to pick back up where they had left off. It's not too often the Royals get shutout in a game and we believe the KC bats will be chomping at the bit to create some contact and make it a tough appearance for Ramirez. These are good odds to lay with what should be the more motivated team this afternoon.
