There is one pick today.
Take St. Louis Cardinals (-123) on the ML against Cincinnati Reds risking 3.69% to win 3%.
(Wainwright and Adleman must start for wager to have action)
There is no question that the St. Louis Cardinals have been struggling as of late, having lost 7 of their last 10 games. Their recent losing streak has caused the betting public to fall out of favor with the team and we plan to use that to our advantage tonight. The Cardinals may only have 3 wins in their last 10 games, two of those victories were with Adam Wainwright on the mound.
Wainwright has been sensational as of late, winning four straight starts while allowing just a single run over his last 26.1 innings pitched. What has been most impressive about this stretch has been the fact that in his last two trips to the mound, he has been forced to face off against two of the top offensive teams in the league in the LA Dodgers and Colorado Rockies. Wainwright managed to blank both on the scoreboard, while striking out 6 in each contest respectively. Having already faced some of the best hitters in the league at the moment, Wainwright should be able to carefully navigate this Cincinnati rotation.
Tim Adleman will take the mound at Great American Ballpark and has been wildly inconsistent this season. He gave up 6 earned runs in just over 4 innings of work against Colorado and then followed that up that performance by blanking Philadelphia over 8 innings. His most recent contest, he gave surrendered 6 hits and 3 earned runs at Toronto. He has one start against the Cardinals already this season and it was not pretty. Adleman lasted just 5.3 innings and gave up 8 hits and 6 runs (5 earned) with 2 home runs. the St. Louis bats have had success against him in the past and this matchup could be just what Mike Matheny's team needs to break out of their current slump and get back into the win column.
The Cardinals dropped Game 1 against Cincinnati last night and should be extra motivated for their rematch tonight. They have a significant edge with Wainwright on the mound and he should have little issue outdueling Adleman in this contest. As long as the St. Louis bullpen does not implode and manage to give up the lead late, the Cardinals' bats should be provide enough offense to come away with the victory.
