There is one pick today.
Take Philadelphia Phillies (-124) on the ML against Atlanta Braves risking 3.72% to win 3%.
(Velasquez and Dickey must start for wager to have action)
The Philadelphia Phillies have been one of the worst offensive teams in the league the last few years and that has been the case for much of this year as well, however, that offense is really starting to play well of late and a big reason for that is due to the fact that Phillies Manager, Pete Mackanin has been tinkering with his lineup and giving some of the younger players on his roster a chance to make an impact. The younger players are undoubtedly more motivated and aggressive when given their opportunity to shine and that often translates into increased performance by the team as a whole.
The Phillies have gone 8-6 in their last 14 games and while their pitching has really led them of late, their offense has also been a big part of their play recently. Over their last 14 games, the Phillies have allowed just 4.28 runs per game, while their offense has put up 5.92 runs per game over the same span. They scored 10 runs in game one of this series and that was on the heels of putting up nine runs in their finale against the Astros. The Phillies still have the worst record in the league, but they are giving their fans hope for next year and we wouldn't be surprised if they were one of the teams that wind up finishing the season strong.
The Atlanta Braves are struggling in their own right and are watching their hopes of postseason play slip away right in front of them. They don't have much of a chance to catch the division leading Washington Nationals, and now after their extended losing streak, they now find themselves 10 games out of the Wild Card race. Unlike the Phillies, the Braves actually had an opportunity to possibly make the postseason, however, those hopes are likely dashed which could be a real morale crusher for this team. Where the Phillies are building for next year and seem hopeful, the Braves are currently deflated and unmotivated which will have a severe impact on their ability to close out the season strong.
R.A. Dickey will take the mound for Atlanta this afternoon and it is certainly no secret that he has had his fair share of struggles on the road this season. He comes into this contest having gone 1-5 with a 5.68 ERA on the highway. He also is 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA in five career starts here at the Bank. The Braves have struggled on this recent road trip, and we don't believe that changes here today. The Phillies have all the momentum at the moment and we believe that carries them once again to victory.
