There is one pick today.
Take Chicago Cubs (-137) on the ML against Milwaukee Brewers risking 4.11% to win 3%.
(Quintana and Suter must start for wager to have action)
Jose Quintana has always been somewhat of an undervalued pitcher simply due to the fact that he played for a mediocre team in the Chicago White Sox. Since being acquired by the Cubs a couple of weeks ago, he is starting to show everyone exactly how good of a pitcher he truly is. In 2 starts with Chicago, he has given up just a total of 3 earned run in 13 innings of work. What should benefit Quintana the most from his move to Chicago is the fact that he will likely start to receive the much-needed run support from his offense, which has always been a downfall of the southpaw. The Cubs currently rank 13th in the league, scoring an average of 4.71 runs per game which should put Quintana in a position to boost his win total on the season.
Even dating back to his time with Chicago this season, Quintana appears to be in great form. He has not lost since June 11th and sports an impressive 2.55 ERA over his last 9 starts. He’s also enjoyed some success against this Brewers' team in his career as he has limited them to just a single run in 15 career innings. We wouldn't be surprised to see his success continue in this contest tonight.
The Brewers will counter with rookie, Brent Suter in this contest. Suter has been impressive in the early going, going 1-1 with a 2.84 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 38 innings of work. That being said, he has made a few relief appearances against the Cubs already this season and they weren’t successful outings. He has allowed a total of 4 runs in 4.1 innings in relief. The Cubs have shown that they are incredibly productive against left-handed pitching which could make this an early night for Suter tonight.
Quintana is obviously the more established and experienced pitcher in this contest. The Cubs have been playing extremely well as of late, going 11-2 in their last 13 games. Quintana should be able to keep the Milwaukee offense in check and unless Suter pitches a near perfect game tonight, the bats of Chicago should be able to generate enough offense to come away with the victory.
