There is one pick today.
Take New York Yankees (-115) on the ML against Seattle Mariners risking 3.45% to win 3%.
(Sabathia and Moore must start for wager to have action)
The Yankees are coming off a win last night in Game 1 of this 4-game set and we expect that momentum to carry over into tonight's contest. New York is in desperate needs of wins if they want to remain competitive in the AL East as they currently sit 3.5 games behind the division leading Boston Red Sox.
Tonight, they will send C.C. Sabathia to the mound for Game 2. Sabathia has seemingly turned back the hands of time this season as he has looked like the pitcher that the Yankees signed a number of years ago from Chicago. He is 8-3 on the season with a respectable 3.54 ERA. What has been most impressive however has been his career numbers against the Mariners. In 26 career starts against the Mariners he is 13-6 with a 2.64 ERA and 1.16 WHIP. The Yankees are also 12-2 in his last 14 starts against Seattle, winning his last 6 straight in Seattle. Sabathia and the Yankees have certainly had the Mariner's numbers in recent history and couple in the fact that New York has won 4 of Sabathia’s last 5 road starts, gives them a distinct advantage on the mound tonight.
For Seattle, they will turn to Andrew Moore. Moore has made just three starts on the season yet has allowed 14 earned runs over his 24 innings of work. He has given up at least three runs in each of those starts, most recently being tagged for 5 earned runs in his most recent appearance. This New York batting order can be a daunting task for a young pitcher to face, and coming off arguably his worst start of the season, we wouldn't be surprised if Moore's confidence was a bit shaken. That could be his downfall tonight if the Yankees lineup starts to string together some hits.
These two teams are fairly evenly matched; however, it is hard to ignore the success that the Bronx Bombers have not only had over this team, but that they have done so in Safeco Field. These are decent odds to lay with what we believe is the team who owns the distinct advantage on the mound tonight.
