There is one pick today.
Take Texas Rangers (+101) on the ML against Baltimore Orioles risking 3% to win 3.03%.
(Hamels and Miley must start for wager to have action)
The Texas Rangers have been thoroughly handled in this series with the Baltimore Orioles. After losing a close, 3-1 matchup in Game 1, the Rangers have been blown out in back to back games by the Orioles, being outscored by a whopping 22-3 margin. While their recent performances shouldn't inspire much confidence, it has certainly drastically skewed the perception of this team in this series. That being said, not only is it incredibly difficult to defeat a team 4 straight games, especially in the sport of baseball, but the Rangers should finally have the advantage on the mound in this contest as Cole Hamels toes the rubber.
Hamels has not been given a huge workload this season, but the times that he has taken the mound, he has been phenomenal. Hamels is a perfect 4-0 through 9 starts this season and has been spectacular over his last two outings, not conceding a run in his last 14.2 innings of work, which has lowered his ERA by a full run in the process. While that is certainly impressive, what has (arguably) been even more impressive however has been his ability to limit his opponents even making contact on the ball as he has only allowed 7 total hits over those outings! We expect Hamels to come in and act as a 'cooler' to the red-hot Orioles offense.
The Orioles will counter by sending a struggling Wade Miley to the mound tonight. Miley is 4-8 on the season with an unflattering 5.40 ERA through 19 starts. Even though his overall record is somewhat mediocre, his reaming statistics have been even worse. He’s allowing opposing batters to hit a collective .298 against him and his WHIP is a staggering 1.80 on the year. He has had serious control issues this season and has allowed 55 walks over his 93.1 innings of work, which is more than 1 walk every 2 innings. His K/BB ratio is just 1.5/1 which, against a team that can hit the longball, that could put Miley in some very compromising positions tonight. The Texas bats have been quiet throughout this series, but we expect that to change tonight in the series finale.
With Hamels on the mound, the Rangers are an incredible 25-4 against teams with losing records and Baltimore is just 2-8 in their last 10 games against a southpaw. The Orioles have dominated this series thus far, but we believe this matchup severely favors the Rangers as they undoubtedly have the better pitcher on the mound and will have the added motivation of trying to prevent being swept. Texas finds a way to get it done and comes away with the victory.
