There is one pick today.

Take Arizona Diamondbacks (-108) on the ML against Atlanta Braves risking 3.24% to win 3%.
(Godley and Garcia must start for wager to have action)

This certainly hasn't been the start to the second half of the season that Arizona had been looking for. They limped into the All-Star break and it seems that their time off hasn't been enough to break them out of their slump. That being said, this is still a team that has a ton to play for and is still in a great position to make the playoffs. They should also hold the advantage on the mound in this contest and the fact that they will be looking to avoid being swept, will only add to their increased motivation.

The Diamondbacks will send Zack Godley to the mound for the series finale. Godley is having a tremendous season thus far and sports a 2.58 ERA and 0.95 WHIP over 69 innings this season. What has been most impressive about Godley this season has been him ability to keep the ball in the ballpark. He has only allowed 4 homeruns this season which gives him an impressive 0.52 HR / 9 ratio. His most recent start was arguably his most impressive of the season as he held the red-hot LA Dodgers' offense to just a single run. We expect that he will come into this contest with a little bit of added motivation as in his lone career appearance against the Braves, he was hit pretty hard, surrendering 7 runs in just 5 innings of work last season. Godley has greatly improved since that meeting and we expect him to showcase his talents and pitch another quality outing here this afternoon.

The Braves will counter with veteran Jaime Garcia. Garcia appears to be on a downward trend as he is just not performing up to the standards that we have been accustomed to see from the southpaw. He is just 2-7 on the season and has been roughed up in four straight starts which has inflated his ERA to 4.55 to go with a 1.35 WHIP in 99 innings of work. While he does have an impressive 5-1 record in 7 career starts against Arizona, those numbers are slightly skewed, since he does own an inflated 4.00 ERA in those starts.

Arizona should be in desperation mode at the moment and given the struggles of Garcia, this appears to be the ideal time for their offense to get back on track. Godley has been masterful this season and even if he does surrender some runs in this contest, he should be able to outduel a struggling Garcia on the mound. Both teams have shown their explosiveness at times this season, but if this game is won on offense, we would have to give the edge to the visitors as we just don't see Atlanta generating enough at the plate off Godley. The value is on the road team in this contest.
