There is one pick today.
Take New York Yankees (+115) on the ML against Houston Astros risking 3% to win 3.45%.
(Montgomery and Martes must start for wager to have action)
The pitching edge in this contest has to reside with Jordan Montgomery and the New York Yankees. Montgomery has been a reliable starter this season as he is 6-4 with a 3.53 ERA and has gone 2-0 in his last three starts. He went seven innings his last time out against the White Sox and allowed just one run and five hits in a 6-5 win. Montgomery is a southpaw and that is something that Houston has struggled with this season, which should give him the edge on the mound. The Yankees are also 4-1 in Montgomery’s last 5 starts.
For the Astros, they will send Francis Martes out for his fourth career starts. Martes hasn't quite adjusted to pitching in the big leagues and it is certainly starting to show. He made it through only two innings last time out against Seattle and allowed two runs on two hits with four walks. He has yet to make it into the sixth inning in any of his starts and control has been a major problem, as he has issued 11 free-passes in 16.3 innings of work. Walking batters can be disastrous, especially against a team like New York who has a ton of power in their lineup and favors the longball.
The Yankees certainly need this series more than their opponents. New York is in a battle for first place in the AL East, while the Astros have been simply running away with their division and are practically locked in to the playoffs this season. New York has also had quite a bit of success in Houston as they have managed to go 11-5 in the last 15 meetings here. If Martes continues to struggle on the mound, the Yankees should have little issue putting runs on the board. If their bullpen can find a way to not blow the game, the Yankees should be able to hold onto the lead and come away with the victory.
