There is one college pick tonight.
Take Dayton -2 spread (buy half a point) against Rhode Island for 3% of the bankroll.
Rhode Island has a balanced scoring attack, with Hassan Martin and E.C. Matthews each averaging 15.3 points and Jared Terrell averaging 14.6. The Rams' strength however has been their defense, holding opponents to 64 points per game, which is 36th nationally and best in the A-10. While they have played well this season, they have struggled on the road, going just 2-4 away from home this season.
The Dayton Flyers are led by Charles Cooke who is averaging 18.7 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game thus far this season. Scoochie Smithy and Kendall Pollard are the other double-digit scorers on the team and both are averaging 13.4 points while Pollard is shooting 57 percent from the field on the season. Dayton plays a very similar style as their opponents as they are holding teams to 65.3 points on average.
Dayton has won 9 of their last 10 games and have been solid on both sides of the ball as they rank 16th in the nation in turnover margin and 55th in both offensive and defensive field goal percentage. Rhode Island is a very dangerous team and talented team; however, the Flyers have been nearly unbeatable in Dayton Arena!
The Flyers are the more balanced and talented team on the offensive side of the ball and we believe they will find a way to have success against the Rhode Island defense. Dayton have been used to playing in closely contested games and finding ways to win. All 3 of their losses this season have come in closely contested matchups. They lost to a ranked St. Mary's club while their other two losses have come against teams from the Big 10 by a total of 5 points. Dayton is the more battle tested of the two and we believe that is going to be the difference tonight. In what should be a close game, we expect the Flyers players to make the critical shots late in the game and a couple of late free throws will seal the win and cover.
