There is one pick tonight.

Take SMU -4 spread against Louisiana Tech for 3% of the bankroll.

For those who are a fan of offense, this is likely the game for you. We expect this matchup to turn into a shootout and the oddsmakers agree, listing the total for this matchup over 70 combined points. If that is indeed the case, that will surely play into the favor of SMU as few teams in the country can light up the scoreboard like the Mustangs can.

SMU averaged over 40 points per game (8th in the nation) and kept competing no matter the opponent and despite playing the likes of Memphis, Navy (undefeated) UCF and TCU, the Mustangs pretty much held their own on offense. Quarterback Ben Hicks has been spectacular this season posting 32 touchdowns and only nine picks as a sophomore, although he got plenty of help from his receivers. Hicks and his dynamic wide receiver Courtland Sutton (1,017 yards and 12TDs) have been a force to contain. Sutton is a special player and is projected to be an early round draft pick in the upcoming NFL draft. Sutton isn't the only capable receiver however as Trey Quinn actually led the team in receiving yards (1,191 yards, 12 TDs), while James Proche (816 yards, 6 TDs) wasn’t far behind. On the ground, Xavier Jones ran for 1,019 yards showing the potency of this offense in all facets. The Bulldogs will likely be on their heels most of the game tonight.

Louisiana Tech has had themselves a nice season, however, they are simply not on the same level as the Mustangs. Since being handed down the "Death Penalty" back in the 1980's, this SMU team has been placed in somewhat obscurity, however, this is a team that is on the rise and will be playing in their first bowl game since 2012 so they should have a motivational edge in this contest. Given the fact that the Bulldogs surrendered 48 points to the best team they have played all season, the FAU Owls, we believe SMU will mimic that offensive output here tonight. In what should be a back and forth game, we believe SMU will simply have too much offense for the Bulldogs to keep pace. This is a reasonable spread to lay with what we believe is the better overall team.
