There is one pick today.

Take Kansas City Royals (-140) on the ML against Tampa Bay Rays risking 4.20% to win 3%.
(Vargas and Odorizzi must start for wager to have action)

The Kansas City Royals manages to snap their 5-game losing streak last night as their offense finally came alive in their 6-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 2 of their 3-game set. With their offense finally finding some success, we expect them to build on that performance tonight in the series finale and should have a great chance to do just that against a struggling Jake Odorizzi.

Odorizzi has certainly struggled over the last month and comes into this contest having gone 0-2 with an 8.10 ERA over his last 3 contests. His last two starts have been especially terrible as he has last just a combined 7.4 innings while surrendering 10 runs in the process! Odorizzi has been very mediocre on the road this season, posting an average 4.30 ERA over 46 innings and he has not had much success against the Royals in his career, going just 1-4 with a 4.55 ERA and WHIP of 1.373 over 5 career starts. Given the way that he has been pitching and the fact that Kansas City is starting to build some momentum, this could be another rough outing for the right-hander tonight.

Jason Vargas will toe the rubber for the Royals tonight and will look to get back to his early season form after struggling somewhat over his last few starts. Vargas has been impressive this season, despite his minor slump, however he does bring into this contest a solid 3.57 ERA at Kauffman Stadium on the year. He has also had quite a bit of success against Tampa Bay in his career, and owns a lifetime ERA of 2.83 and WHIP of 1.171 over 11 career starts. He has proven to be able to navigate this lineup in the past and we wouldn't be surprised if that was the case once again tonight.

The Royals desperately need to continue to pile up some wins in order to keep pace in the Wild Card standings and this is an ideal matchup for them to do just that against a struggling Odorizzi. The momentum KC gathered in last night's victory should carry over into tonight’s contest as the Royals close out the series with a win.
