There is one pick today.
Take Arizona Diamondbacks (-128) on the ML against San Francisco Giants risking 3.84% to win 3%.
(Walker and Stratton must start for wager to have action)
Game 2 tonight between the Arizona Diamondback and San Francisco Giants has all of the makings of a mismatch. There is no question that the DBacks have had the much better season than their opponents, but tonight they should also have a huge edge on the mound ad Taijuan Walker takes on Chris Stratton.
Walker has been the epitome of consistency this season, having allowed 3 or fewer runs in 11 of his last 12 starts and owns a rather impressive 2.94 ERA in 9 starts on the road this season. Arizona has also dominated the NL West when Walker has taken the mound as they are 6-1 in their last 7 versus this division.
While Walker has pitched well this season, the same cannot be said for his counterpart. Chris Stratton is having a very poor season. This will be his 5th start of the season for the Giants with his last one coming on July 25th. The rookie right-hander has struggled in his limited action, surrendering 12 runs in his 14-innings pitched while issuing 8 walks! He also had a tough time in Triple-A this season, posting a poor 5.11 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP in 79.1 innings. When he has saw action for the Giants, it has been mostly in spot-start situations and given the way that he has pitched, it's clear that San Francisco only uses him when they are truly out of options. Stratton will have his work cut out for him tonight against a potent Arizona batting order.
This truly seems like Arizona's game to lose. They are the better team, have the better overall offense and now have the better pitcher on the mound. They have done well in playing in AT&T Park having won 16 of the last 24 meeting with the Giants in this venue. Unless Stratton pitches his very best game and the Arizona offense just somehow goes cold, the DBacks should win this game convincingly. At these odds, the value lies with the much better team.
