There is one pick today.

Take Philadelphia Phillies (+121) on the ML against LA Angels risking 3% to win 3.63%.
(Nola and Nolasco must start for wager to have action)

The Philadelphia Phillies have been playing their best baseball of the season over the last couple of weeks and now head to Anaheim to open a series with the Los Angeles Angels. Even though they have struggled much of the season, we believe Philadelphia will hold the advantage in this opening game series, especially when it comes to starting pitching.

Aaron Nola has been the unquestioned 'Ace' of this Phillies rotation this season and comes into this contest 8-6 with a respectable 3.17 ERA on the season. He has been especially sharp in his last several starts, allowing just 3 runs in his last 19 innings of work while striking out 26! He is 5-1 over his last 7 starts and has given up 2 earned runs or less in each. His most recent start was arguably his most impressive of the season as he held the potent Houston Astros offense scoreless through 6 innings allowing just 4 total hits while striking out 10! This kid should have a ton of confidence at the moment and given the way he has pitched as of late, we are confident that he can keep this Angels' offense in check tonight.

While Nola has thrived, the same can't be said about his counterpart this season. Ricky Nolasco has been down-right terrible this season. He is 4-12 with a 5.07 ERA in 21 starts this season. Since the start of May, Nolasco is just 2-10 with an ERA just over 5.25. He hasn't fared much better at home this season either as he is just 2-5 with a 5.05 ERA in 10 home starts on the season. Nolasco has struggled and we don't see things getting much better for him tonight against a Philadelphia team who has finally found their swagger and are hitting the ball extremely well.

The Angels are also coming off what could only be described as a devastating loss in their most recent outing. The Angels were well on their way to a three-game sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays, leading 10-4 heading into the bottom of the 9th inning before disaster struck. Their relief pitching allowed the Blue Jays to score 7 runs in the final frame to ultimately steal the victory. It was undoubtedly a crushing loss for a team that has been fighting to keep themselves relevant in the playoff race, however that loss may have been the final straw and was a real morale crushing loss. Even though the team has had a day to recover, we don't believe they will fully get over the way they lost that game and could come into this contest just a bit flat.

The Phillies have been kind to their backers recently and come into this matchup on a 6-game winning streak. Given that they are receiving plus-odds in this contest shifts all of the value on them tonight. Nola should be able to outduel his counterpart on the mound tonight and as long as the Phillies bullpen does not blow the game late; Philadelphia should extend their winning streak tonight and reward their backers with a nice underdog victory!
