Sports Profit System aims to make it 8 wins in a row tonight!
Take Toronto Blue Jays (-120) on the Money Line against Baltimore Orioles risking 3.6% to win 3%.
(Liriano and Gausman must start for wager to have action)
The Toronto Blue Jays haven't exactly had the start to the season that they had expected as they are just 1-7 to start the year. That being said, this is still a club that is poised to contend for the AL East title this season and is only a matter of time before they string together a winning streak.
There is likely no player on the Blue Jays roster that is looking to turn around their recent fortunes than starting pitcher Francisco Liriano. Liriano is coming off (arguably) the worst outing of his career on April 7th where he lasted just a third of an inning, giving up 3 hits, 5 runs while walking 4 batters. It was only the second time in 257 career starts that the lefty failed to make it out of the first inning and there is no question he is eager for a bounce back performance in this contest. Liriano is no stranger to these Baltimore Orioles and has had success against them in high pressure situations. Just a season ago, these two teams squared off in the Wild Card game in which Liriano picked up the win, retiring 5 straight batters on four groundouts and a strikeout after closer Roberto Osuna left the game with a sore shoulder.
The Orioles will counter with right-hander Kevin Gausman tonight. Gausman pitched on Opening Day in which Baltimore came away with a 3-2 victory. Gausman allowed two runs on 5 hits with 4 walks for the no-decision. He wasn’t as sharp on Saturday vs. the Yankees in another no-decision, allowing four runs and eight hits with three walks and four strikeouts over 4.2 innings. This will be the youngster's first road start of the year and for those who remember, Gausman was less than stellar on the road a season ago, compiling a 3-10 record and 4.32 ERA. He also wasn’t very good vs. Toronto overall, going 0-2 with a 7.04 ERA in three starts. The Orioles are also just 1-4 in Toronto when Gausman has taken the mound.
Both Liriano and his offense should be extremely motivated heading into this matchup with their division rivals. Playing at the Rogers Centre will give them the added edge needed to come away with the victory in Game 1 of this series.
