An afternoon baseball pick has been released.

In addition, a football pick for Saturday was released earlier this week, way in advance!

The NFL season is just around the corner and Sports Profit System clients will recall that we hit a documented and verified 61% last year thanks to an outstanding 41-26 record! That meant SPS topped handicapping charts and it was hardly our first or only impressive campaign. The previous years had also been successful, including a solid 58% mark in the season prior to last! Needless to say, football has historically enlarged our bankrolls and we look forward to another lucrative season ahead.

Take Chicago White Sox (-125) on the ML against Detroit Tigers risking 3.75% to win 3%.
(Jose Quintana and Anibal Sanchez must start for wager to have action)

The White Sox have a score to settle with their AL Central division rivals, the Detroit Tigers. That's because despite shutting them out in a 2-0 victory last night, they have still lost twice as many games (12) as they have won (6) against them! They may be out of the running as far as post-season contention is concerned but this is still a team with a lot of proud veterans like Adam Eaton, Melky Cabrera and Todd Frazier just to name a few and they don't take kindly to being dominated by another club. The Pale Hose also feature young talent in the likes of short-stop Tim Anderson who mixes power and speed and is an outstanding athlete.

Last night's win gave the Southsiders some much-needed confidence. For a team that had lost back-to-back games in extra innings, doubt had crept in. Being able to grind out a victory against a team that has had their number will have been extremely satisfying for Robin Ventura and the clubhouse. We expect them to ride the momentum gained in yesterday's contest and follow that up with another 'W', especially against a hittable and familiar pitcher in Anibal Sanchez.

The starting pitching matchup gives Chicago a definite edge in this afternoon clash. Jose Quintana has been as good as Chris Sale this season and continues to be one of the under-rated performers in the league. The talented lefty has an excellent 3.05 ERA and what we're most impressed by is his 4.05 strikeouts-to-walk ratio which shows just how efficient he is and how rarely he hands out 'free passes'. Even in his last outing, which was a rare off one, he didn't issue any walks! Despite that poor performance against Minnesota last Thursday, he's still #3 among all American League Pitchers in ERA! We expect a bounce-back performance from him today.

Anibal Sanchez is making what could be his final start of the season with Jordan Zimmermann due back soon. Sanchez only regained his spot in the rotation after a series of injuries and with some of those arms back healthy and ready to contribute, he may once again be relegated to the bullpen. The former Marlin is not the pitcher he used to be and is having a very poor season as evident by all mertrics including his bloated 5.7 ERA! What doesn't help his cause today is the fact that Chicago has seen plenty of him over the years and know what to expect. Only a fraction of his starts have been 'quality' ones this year and we doubt he'll record one this afternoon. If the White Sox relievers don't throw away the lead late in the game, we believe Quintana will outdo Sanchez and give the hosts an opportunity to clinch another win. This is a short price to back the better pitcher against Sanchez who is 1-10 after a defeat this season! Look for the crowd at U.S. Cellular Field to have something to cheer about.
