There is one MLB pick tonight. In addition, a football pick for Saturday was released early yesterday!
The NFL season is just around the corner and Sports Profit System clients will recall that we hit a documented and verified 61% last year thanks to an outstanding 41-26 record! That meant SPS topped handicapping charts and it was hardly our first or only impressive campaign. The previous years had also been successful, including a solid 58% mark in the season prior to last! Needless to say, football has historically enlarged our bankrolls and we look forward to another lucrative season ahead.
Take Colorado Rockies (-140) on the ML against San Francisco Giants risking 4.2% to win 3%.
(Anderson and Samardzija must start for wager to have action)
The Rockies are the only team in the Majors that owns a positive run-differential (+29) but a losing record! That in itself is proof that they have been quite unlucky in certain situations and especially 1-run games where they are just 9-17 on the season. Failure in some of those tightly contested games means they own a 66-71 record when they could just as easily have been 71-66! We believe their luck will even out a bit over the next few weeks and see them win a few close games.
Chad Bettis threw a complete-game shutout for the Rox last night as the hosts beat their NL West division opponents 6-0! His performance not only brought Walt Weiss and company a morale-boosting victory but has implications on tonight's matchup as well. That's because with the bullpen finally getting a night off, Colorado relievers should have fresharms and be ready to be called into action. The Giants meanwhile only got 2 innings out of Matt Moore and had to use a couple of other guys to record the necessary outs.
Jeff Samardzija is having a good season but he's coming off a poor performance against a club that he would have loved to do better against, his former club, Chicago Cubs. He needed 47 pitches just to get out of the first inning last time out, marking a career-high! The first inning was a sign of things to come as he labored through 87 pitches for what was one of his shortest outings this season. His confidence may have taken a hit after that contest and now having to face the big bats of Colorado in the hitter-friendly ballpark that is Coors Field, it wouldn't surprise us if he struggled again tonight.
Tyler Anderson, who has been sensational gets the ball for the home side. The rookie is already on his way to establishing himself as the franchise 'Ace' and has been able to command his pitches extremely well. He's hitting both sides of the plate and has just enough craftiness about him to mix in some off-speed ones to catch hitters off-guard. Over his last 3 starts, he has struckout 23 while walking only 5 batters! He's coming off what is arguably his best outing of his career and should be beaming with confidence.
The Giants have struggled at the plate recently averaging only 2.4 runs over their last 7 games and Bruce Bochy admitted that he'll be giving some starters Tuesday night off in hopes of recharging their batteries. Sharp money has come pouring in on the Rox and there's a reason why they are now significant favorites over an opponent that has a better overall record! Back the hosts as 'momentum' is on their side and they also own the edge in the starting pitching matchup. The fact that Colorado hitters have seen Samardzija quite a bit over the years gives them an advantage. Meanwhile the Giants have had very few at-bats against Tyler Anderson and that type of unfamiliarity can be tough to overcome against a talented lefty.
