There is one pick tonight.

Take Seattle Mariners (+105) on the ML against Tampa Bay Rays risking 3% to win 3.15%.
(Walker and Odorizzi must start for wager to have action)

After a somewhat rough start to the season, Seattle pitcher, Taijuan Walker has seemingly hit his stride and is coming off a strong outing in his last trip to the mound. The 23-year old is extremely talented and has quite a vast arsenal of pitches at his disposal. He’s a hard-throwing righty whose fastball averages 94.1 mph! We believe he will outduel his counterpart, Tampa’s Jake Odorizzi on the mound tonight. There is no question that Odorizzi is a solid pitcher himself; however he has proven to be quite unlucky on the mound over the years. His offense has rarely provided him the run support needed to pick up the win and even in the rare cases where they have, the bullpen has faltered.

Even if Odorizzi somehow puts in a quality performance and manages to outdo Walker on the hill tonight, Seattle is a team that has shown that they are never out of a game and have had multiple come-from-behind victories this season! They have also proven that they have the much more consistent offense of these two teams and their run differential tells a compelling story. Seattle's lefty-heavy lineup has done its fair share of damage against right handed pitchers not only this season but over the last 3 and we expect that to be the case once again tonight.

The Mariners are also coming off of a defeat which is yet another situation that favors them. They have been extremely solid in bounce back situations and it seems that losing lights a fire underneath this squad for their next contest. We believe they will have the motivational edge in this matchup tonight. The Rays are also coming off a day of rest and while many may look at that as a positive, that hasn't really been the case for this team under manager Kevin Cash. The Rays have also shown their ability to underperform after shutting out an opponent and that is what happened on Sunday when they played the Houston Astros.

This is a game that we fully expect the Mariners to win and would be what we consider a ‘False Favorite’ situation. Seattle has numerous advantages heading into this contest tonight and has already beaten the Rays 3 times. Even though we expect this to be a closely contested matchup, the M's should do enough to come away with the ‘W’ and display exceptional value as underdogs.

Other notable facts to consider:

  • Mariners have won 14 of 20 road games against right-handed starters!
  • Mariners are 15-7 on the road after a day of rest over the last 3 seasons!
  • Tampa Bay has won only 7 of 20 games against teams with winning records.
